Automatic Lifting Crutch

For the courseĀ Engineering Design we created a telescopic crutch over the course of 9 weeks that can help people get up and sit down, for example in chairs or on their bed. The crutch is designed to be used indoors during recovery from a leg fracture, for example. We’ve received some interest from an investor and are currently discussing our options in bringing this product to market. This project group consisted of Abel Brasse, Daan Datema, Joost Buining, Justin Kleinveld, Katrien van Riet, Sebastiaan van Schajik, and Yannick Fermin.

For this project I mainly focused on CAD design and electronics, developing my skills in Technology and Realisation. It was interesting to see a functional product come to life in only 10 weeks. My main learning point was learning how to communicate my design ideas effectively to fellow students and teachers.
